Unique Shields

Most are shown on my pally with lvl 20+ Holy Shield active, so the defenses are likely to look higher than they actually are.

I found the Mithril one early on from Nightmare Dol Guldar, and promptly socketed it with a 78% ED jewel I had found. My paladin is still using at at Clvl 86, though he's found a couple of elite rare pally shields with better blocking, defense, and resistances, and doesn't get any Zeal benefit from the 10% IAS on this one, but the others aren't enough better to make it worth switching and giving up the 78% ED, at least not until I have some other character who really needs the Mithril one, or I find a godly Unique Elite shield.

Dwarven is excep, moria is the elte version.

Elite Unique Shields

Looks like excep stats on an elite, but if so I haven't found the excep yet.  The defense is nice, but that's with lvl 23 Holy Shield on.

The Vanyarin Wall Shield is a pure elite (at least I doubt the excep version has such huge stats) and one of the few elite uniques that live up to what the name should mean. This is a proper unique elite item, with lots of huge mods, but not the total package.  No resistance on a shield is hard to deal with, generally speaking.  And the str req is mammoth, but those balance things out nicely, as does the lacking defense (you see it with lvl 22 Holy Shield boosting the value).

I have since socketed a -25% req/+15% res all jewel in it and am using it on my Paladin.  The faster run is just enough to offset the slower run speed from such a heavy shield, and the IAS and blocking work very well, enabling me to use a sword with no IAS at all and stay at the fastest frame Zeal possible.
