Urotsukidoji II: The Legend of Demon Womb |
|
Urotsukidoji II: Legend of Demon Womb Some of those categories aren't entirely accurate since this is a
cartoon. Anime, as they call it. It's also, by far, the worst anime I've
ever seen. To be more accurate, this is Hentai, AKA porn anime, though
like most types of Japanese porn, they can't show actual porn stuff,
like human genitalia, actual thrusting in and out, etc. Some Japanese
porn avoids this by pixeling out the naughty bits, which seems
ridiculous to me. As if you can't still tell exactly what's happening.
Other porn puts small blocks over parts of the genitals, which seems
even weirder. Like it's okay to show a spurting dick (in a cartoon) but
if a woman is sucking it you've got to put a black block over the exact
point her tongue is touching it. Go look at the Manga
preview images on JList if you want to see this sort of foolishness
in action. The way this unspellable movie handles the porn aspects is by editing
and camera angles. They never actually show the things they can't show,
but they show everything but. The hugely-erect and misshapen demon cock
is seen driving towards the shadow-concealed vagina of the bleeding and
horrified woman, but just as it touches the camera cuts to a long shot
so the penetration is hidden by one of her legs, or his cape, or
whatever. You can still see the bodies moving, the groans and screams,
the squishy sound effects, etc. You just can't see the actual 1% of porn
that's banned by the Japanese censorship laws. And as a result, it's far
dirtier than just showing normal sex would be, since they have to be
creative and that leads to tentacle rape (since they're just tentacles
or pseudopods that happen to look almost exactly like a human male's
penis, they don't have to be bleeped out as much) and constant female
degradation and torture and school girl fetish exploitation and so on.
These are all popular blog and anime discussion topics; why the Japanese
sex stuff is so weird and twisted and faux-violent, if the censorship
laws have driven it that way over time, etc. I'm not going to go into
them today, though. As for this movie itself, it's got some cool concepts; Nazi mad
scientists, demon summoning powered by the magical energy of female
orgasm via gigantic rape machines, invisible demons that can only be
seen by their reflections, super powers via demon DNA, and much more.
The problem, besides the basically reprehensible morality of it all, is
how boring and stupid the plot is, and how little sense it all makes.
The characters are all stupid and utterly lacking in motivation or
logic, all the dialogue is dreadful, and it's peppered with random
supernatural things, rescuers from alternate dream worlds, etc. I
first wrote about it a year ago, and said how Malaya and I got
through 15 minutes before giving up in utter confusion and bemusement.
We couldn't see getting through the rest of it without making it a
drinking game, which of course means it's a movie that's only good
enough to watch if you're drunk (or stoned, though since we don't do
that, I didn't mention it as one of our options). I ended up watching it myself, on a day when Malaya was gone, and I
only got through it by watching it in 20 minute chunks while eating, and
then taking a break for a few hours to forget just how horribly stupid
it was. I could not have watched the entire 90 minutes at once, at least
not in my right mind. Afterwards, utterly confused by what the hell I'd just seen (since so
much of the plot simply doesn't make any sense, with new characters
appearing from nowhere, doing things that make no sense, and then
vanishing) I searched around on the Internet until I found this
review from someone who actually knows the first movie and knew why
this one sucked and didn't make any sense. Here's a quick quote.
This one isn't recommended as Anime (virtually any well-known title you pick at random would be more enjoyable, and it's not any good as cartoon porn either, since every scene is a violent rape (even though half the females seem to be perfectly okay and have forgotten all about it 5 minutes later), and even if you get off on that sort of thing in a cartoon, none of the scenes go on long enough to get off on, if you see what I mean. They're 30 seconds, tops, and the few surreal consensual sex scenes aren't any longer. None of them are in any way erotic either, but that probably goes without saying. |
