Vacation Photos | |
So these are vacation pictures, or at least pictures from multi-hour or day trips to various places. If I ever go to the beach for a day, or just take a bunch of shots of some hiking trail, I'll probably include those here as well, along with actual photos from actual vacations, which are few and far between with my current budget.
Death
Valley, Nov 2005 Page 1 http://www.blackchampagne.com/daily/2003-nov08.shtml -- pleasant hill hike http://www.blackchampagne.com/daily/2003-nov14.shtml -- napa wine tasting Lafayette Reservoir, 2003-2004 Photos and discussion of this local attraction where I go to get most of my jogging and dirt hill climbing exercise. It's not especially scenic, to be honest. Placerville, August 2004 Photos from a day trip to Placerville and many surrounding small towns, with dad and Malaya. See giant rock-crushing wheels, abandoned gold mines, viniculture, miniature trains, and Malaya's cute shirt. Mount Diablo, 2003-2004 Photos from several visits to this nearby State Park. See hiking trails, steep hills, the Devil's Elbow, pretty views from up high, and even the real life Secret Cow Level. Monterey Bay Aquarium, June 2004 Photos from a late June/birthday trip to the semi-world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. See sharks, Nemo, many marvelous jellyfish and sea anemones, stuffed whales, and even a bunch of sand piper type birds. Birds at an aquarium? That's what I said. The second photo page entirely full of pictures taken by the new (as of June 2004) camera. Pretty stuff galore. Big Sur, June 2004 Photos, captions, and climatological discussions of the north/central California coast line. The first photos page captured on the new 2004 B-day camera, and you will really notice the difference in image quality, thanks to several side by side comparisons. These are, hands down, the most beautiful nature photos on this page, thus far. Lake Tahoe, February 2004 Photos from outside our hotel, in the deep, deep snow on the shores (literally) of Lake Tahoe. Not pictured (yet): ski slopes, casinos, hotels, spas, snowball fights, snowmobiling, tubing runs, poorly-dressed cocktail waitresses, and many, many other things that would be far more interesting than the stuff you'll currently see on this page. John Muir National Park, February 2004 Photos and write up from a trip to the John Muir National Monument, home of redwoods and other non-tropical rainforest type plants. San Diego Fire, December 2003 Photos from my return to San Diego and tour of the fire-damaged lands near my childhood home. Includes over 50 photos of fire damage, mostly taken outdoors in the defoliated, charcoaled, Mission Trails Park recreation area. Sonoma Wine Country, November 2003 Photos from a wine-tasting trip to Sonoma with dad. See really big kegs, lots of nice architecture, and cloudy skies. Read about overdone gift shoppes and the perils of tasting 30 kinds of Zin inside of 20 minutes. Windy Hills, May 2003 A series of photos taken in some beautiful windy hills in Malaya's area. See the sun, feel the wind, smell the cow shit. Shady Woods, May 2003 A series of photos taken while walking through some picturesque woods with Malaya. Thrill to the dark glades, tall redwoods, and snake-stomping angel statue. Blizzard North Visit, May 2003 Flux and Malaya playtest D2X v1.10 and tour the nirvana that is Blizzard North. Fear the giant Diablo foam rubber suit. SD Mission Trails Park, March 2003 A few photos of the hilly, trail-infested park where I go to ride my mountain bike. Taken during the rainy season, when it was uncommonly lush and green. More pictures will be added later in the year when it's in a more usual brown and dry semi-desert state. San Diego Wild Animal Park, June 2002 Photos include numerous animals (of course) as well as some pretty trees and a few obligatory "stand by that and I'll snap one of you" type shots of me and my mom. |
