Daily Blog Very short update today, so try to find another reason to continue living, since this blog is probably not going to give you one. I have been up until dawn or later the last three days, and since I've been waking up before noon, I'm damn tired. Plus I worked Friday night, and as it's 5am now, and I've been working on photos section stuff for the last few hours, I'm just posting a quickie and going to bed.
Work was boring and typical Friday night. Going in, I felt a sort of euphoria of imminent escape, knowing that I'm only working about 13 more events before I move up to live with Malaya. And since I strongly dislike my job, don't much like living here, and very much miss Malaya, I'm a bit giddy knowing I won't be here for that much longer. And the prospect of never having to go to my crappy stadium job again after July 8th fills me with glee. Or at least it did until about the 2nd inning, by which time I was very bored and ready to not be there. I did earn $180, which will come in handy, and it's not exactly misery, but I always think of other things I'd rather be doing. And while I didn't think I'd spend the next three weeks floating on air with the prospect of moving wafting me along like a gentle breeze, I did think I'd at least get through a day or two of work before I got back into my usual, "God I hate this waste of time please kill me now." mindset. Alas.
In semi-big news, at least for readers of this site, I've added one new photos section page today. Others are under construction and should debut later this weekend, but today the one most people are probably interested in is online. Behold the Malaya photos page. There are only three pictures there now, and no, you can't exactly pick her out of a lineup based on any of these shots, but hey, my mystery love is being thrust into the spotlight, at least a little bit. For an added bonus, you can see a link to her new blog, which she's running mostly to discuss things I write about on this site. She'll be reacting to stuff here, and also talking about me and things we do together, as well as taking the piss out of anyone foolish enough to send her foolish emails. So if you've been reading along here for weeks or months or years, and have followed the whole Malaya drama and want to hear (read?) from her directly, that may now be possible.
¤ One news item, and it's not exactly brand new news. But brand new or not, I just saw it for the first time tonight, and thought others might enjoy it as I did. Gollum won the MTV Movie award for Best Virtual Performance, and the WETA guys knew about it far enough in advance to make a special video of Gollum receiving it. You expect he'll just say thanks and look cool, but he goes into Stinker mode and goes off on this incredible rant in which he slams virtually everyone. It's damn amusing. You can see three sizes of it right here, and since the dialogue is the main draw, even the 1meg size is probably worth a view. |

Here follows the entire email.
I don't even know where to begin snarking on this one, so I think I'll just let it stand for itself. The grammar and punctuation are of course breathtaking, and the content isn't far behind. As best I can tell he's asking if he can find v1.09 (the current game version) uniques and save them, unidentified, until v1.10 comes out, hoping that will make them somehow magically upgrade to v1.10 items. I suppose that's a legit question, if you can wade through the writing long enough to figure out what he's saying. I thought it was common knowledge that item stats were set at the time of item generation, but much like common sense, the only thing about common knowledge that's common is how uncommon it is. Also, blizzard answered this question specifically in the fan site chat 2 days ago, which I'd like to hope this guy took 5 minutes to read. I've long wondered why some people will take the time to email about a question that they could probably answer for themselves in about 5 minutes of directed surfing. Don't they feel any shame in asking about something stupid that they could have easily found out for themselves? Did they actually believe their teachers in junior high when they gave out that whole, "There are no stupid questions." bullshit? Or do I just have an unnatural aversion to appearing ignorant by asking a question that I could probably have figured out myself... |
